Your Question
This is two assignments.
ASSIGMENT 1(ENGLISH)
Lesson 6
• Create an outline and polished 1500 word rough draft for your term paper. Your essay and work cited are included in the word count - not the outline.
• Proofread your paper. Tips on proofreading can be found at http://writingcenter.gmu.edu/resources/handouts/editingproofreading.pdf
• Submit the outline, rough draft, and MLA style work cited in one document.
• You do not need a title page. Your name block and headers should appear on the first page of your essay not the outline page.
Research Paper Notes:
1. You should use 2 – 3 pieces of literature (poems, short stories, plays or approved essays) from the textbook to analyze for your final paper. Your final paper should be 1500 words including your Work Cited page.
2. You will need to incorporate quotes from your textbook and quotes from 3-5 sources outside of the textbook. Your outside sources should include critical reviews and analytical essays. Online encyclopedias and paper mills including Wikipedia, Associated Content, and Helium should be avoided. Please check out the Literature Resources from Gale in LIRN. It is located in the InfoTrac databases. If you have problems finding the resource please contact the librarian, Linda Catlin, at lcatlin@grantham.edu. You can also use the Internet Public Library at http://www.ipl.org/div/litcrit/
3. Keep in mind that your paper should not include a biography of the author nor should it be a history report. Your paper must focus on comparing and contrasting the two works. If a certain event or aspect of the author’s life mirrors the story or poem, then it is acceptable to briefly discuss that particular event or occurrence. The birth information and early life and works of the author or poet should not be written into your essay.
5. Make sure you have proper in-text citations (not footnotes) for each source listed in your work cited. Please look at the paper examples in your book and the sample paper example in your Lesson 6 Module. Make sure you have 3-5 sources along with the literature from the textbook in your Work Cited. Remember to credit the actual authors and note the textbook editors when citing works from the anthology.
6. If you use printed sources for your paper, please keep a copy of your articles handy. If prompted, be prepared to fax your sources to the college.
7. As a final note on plagiarism - avoid posting 3 words in row from any source without giving the source credit. Avoid over paraphrasing without including enough original content and ideas. If you are uncertain about how to avoid plagiarism - please see the following:
