I need a term paper (6-8 pages) on this topic: " Grades in non-major courses in U.S. colleges and universities".
I have made an introduction and conclusion which is follows:
In India, university students, even undergraduates, focus all of their studies on their major field courses. For example, engineering students take all of their courses, every term, in the school of engineering. However, every undergraduate student at the Strayer University is required to take many courses that have little or no relevance to their field of study. In addition to being a waste of time and money, theses courses are required to be graded with letter grades ( A,B,C,D or F ), and those grades are added to the Grade Point Average (GPA) of every student. Although students graduate from the university with a broader education as a result of these courses, I believe that the courses should graded pass/ fail, and that the grades for these courses should not become part of the students’ GPAs.
In conclusion, while I understand that the non-major course requirements must continue, I believe that the system for those courses should be changed. My survey demonstrated that most undergraduate students at the university agree with me. Therefore, I believe that the university administrators should consider student opinions concerning the required non-major courses and the grading system at the university.
