Your Question
I am a grade 10 level student. My assignment was to write an essay on the given topic. The topic is Does media increase or decrease fear in society. My question is if this essay is grade 10 level and if it flow. Please feel free to give any suggestions

Have you ever noticed how much panic the media can cause in society today? There is constant violence going on in the world no matter where you are. The fact of the matter is that it\'s not going to end but just get increasingly worse. That will do nothing but lead to very stressful and fearful lives for the people and children in society. With all the terrorist attacks, murders and robberies going on in the world it can make for many restless nights.
First off lets talk about the terrorist attacks going on. Osama Bin Laden just sent his latest tape to the media. It of course increases panic especially since September 11th is just around the corner. Now people are worried as to what may or may or may not happen and it is scary waiting for the unknown. Just think of the effect it has on the children in society.
Secondly, we have had an awful uprise in the number of murders today. Everyday or so it seems there is a new murder in the streets and of course it gets publicity from the media. Kids, elderly, men and women it doesn\'t matter who they are but they are dying before their time. Drug deals gone wrong, relationship problems, or just something as simple as a stupid argument can be some of the main causes of murders today. It\'s not going to change unless society as a whole steps up and changes the way we react to situations.
Lastly, what about all the robberies and home invasions going on today. People getting tied up in their homes or coming home to all of their hard earned possessions just gone. Then you see it publicized on the new and when it happens in your area or the area of some you know it increases fear. What makes it worse is when the person robbed took all the necessary precautions such as locked windows, doors, home alarms and they are the victims. How are you supposed to feel safe when it seems like there is nothing you can do?
That point I am trying to get at is that the media increases panic and fear in society. Terrorism is a number one panic today. Then you have to hear about or see murders and robberies so close to home that it can make for many restless nights. What kind of world are we living in that we can\'t even walk out our front doors and feel safe. I think that sometimes criminals do it for the publicity. So maybe if we cut back on their 15 minutes/seconds of shame we can decrease the panic in society and move on with our lives.
